- Mainly aims at improving the students’ skills to comprehend English Language and to use the language as a spoken medium of communication.
- Short passages of 5 to 7 mins duration will be played. The students, after listening to the passage are required to answer multiple choice questions based on the passage. This exercise which continues for 1 hour will be interspliced with exercises from Segment 2

- mainly concentrates on improving the speaking skills of the student. The students will be given lessons in English pronunciation skills (phonemes, syllables, and suprasegmental features like stress, pitch, intonationetc).
- Short passages will be played and students will be required to identify sounds.

- The students will be tested on their skills to write in English and to frame sentences, conversation and speech.
- The students will be given current topics to write short articles on. The teachers will value these write-ups each hour
